Samantha A. Smith, Ph.D., MPH, CHES (she/her/hers)
Director of Health Promotion
Samantha has been a part of the UMBC community since 2016. Prior to UMBC, she worked with the United States Army Public Health Center. Her areas of expertise are in public health program development, health education, and program assessment and evaluation. Her areas of interest include young adult health, sexual health, social justice activism, and research methods. She has a professional and personal commitment to eliminating health disparities and supporting health equity. Samantha has a Ph.D. in Behavioral and Community Health from the University of Maryland, College Park, a Master of Public Health from Emory University, and a B.S. in Human Biology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Melissa Stoner (she/her/hers)
Health Educator
Melissa joined the UMBC community in 2023. She serves as a health educator within the Office of Health Promotion. She received her B.A. in Public Communication with a minor in Public Health from American University. She is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health in Behavioral and Community Health at the University of Maryland, College Park. Melissa is passionate about both student affairs and public health. Some areas of interest include alcohol and other drug education, as well as sexual violence prevention.
